• Inflation:
• Inflation is defined as an increase in the price of most everyday or common goods and services, such as food, clothing, housing, recreation, transportation, consumer staples, and so on.
• Inflation is defined as the average change in the price of a basket of goods and services over time.
• Inflation is defined as a drop in the purchasing power of a country’s currency unit. This could eventually result in a slowdown in economic growth.
• However, to ensure that output is supported, the economy requires a moderate amount of inflation.
• In India, the National Statistics Office (NSO), which is part of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, monitors inflation.
• In India, two key indices, the WPI (Wholesale Price Index) and the CPI (Consumer Price Index), are used to assess wholesale and retail price fluctuations, respectively.

• What exactly is MCC:
• The Election Commission of India has published recommendations for political parties and candidates to follow during elections, primarily in regards to speeches, polling day, polling booths, election manifestos, processions, and general behaviour.
• This is in accordance with Article 324 of the Constitution, which requires the EC to hold free and fair elections to the National Assembly and State Legislatures.
• The goal is to ensure that elections are free and fair.
• When does it go into effect:
• So far, the Model Code of Conduct has taken effect as soon as the commission announces the election schedule. The Code will stay in effect until the election is completed.
• Status:
• It is in the interest of free and fair elections that such a code be required.
• The code, on the other hand, is not based on any specific legislation. It merely has a persuasion impact.
• It contains what are known as “electoral morality rules.”
• However, the lack of legal support does not prohibit the Commission from enforcing it.
• Evolution:
• The Commission first published the code in 1971 (5th Election) and has since updated it several times.
• This collection of rules has been evolved with the consensus of political parties who have accepted to abide by the ideals included in the aforementioned code and also binds them to respect and observe it in its letter and spirit.
• What is it made up of:
• The Model Code of Conduct lays out how political parties, contesting candidates, and the party(s) in power should conduct themselves during the election process, including general electioneering conduct, holding meetings and processions, poll day activities, and the functioning of the party in power, among other things.
• Enforcement:
• The EC has created a number of measures to detect code violations, including joint task forces of enforcement agencies and flying squads. The most recent development is the launch of the cVIGIL smartphone app, which allows audio-visual proof of malpractices to be reported.

3 – EOS 04 SATELLITE:

• ISRO is getting back to work with the EOS-04, an earth observation satellite, after a disastrous 2021 that saw only one successful launch.
• What exactly is EOS:
• A satellite used or built for Earth observation (EO) from orbit is known as an EOS or Earth remote sensing satellite.
• It includes spy satellites and other non-military satellites for environmental monitoring, meteorology, cartography, and other purposes.
• Earth-imaging satellites, which take satellite images similar to aerial photography, are the most frequent variety.
• Some EOS, such as those used in GNSS radio occultation, can perform remote sensing without producing pictures.
• What exactly is EOS-04:
• The EOS-04 is the fourth satellite in a series of earth observation satellites launched under a new generic designation.
• It’s made to deliver high-resolution photos for applications including agriculture, forestry, and plantations, as well as flood mapping, soil moisture, and hydrology.
• It will supplement data from the Resourcesat, Cartosat, and RISAT-2B satellite series, which are currently in orbit.

4 – PRADHAN MANTRI JAN AROGYA YOJNA:

• PM-JAY provides an amount insured of Rs.5 lakh per family for secondary (non-super specialist) and tertiary (super specialist) treatment (which involves a super specialist).
• It’s an entitlement-based program that focuses on the people identified by the latest Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) data as beneficiaries.
• The beneficiary is considered insured once the database has recognized him or her, and he or she can go to any empanelled hospital.
• The expense of insurance is split around 60:40 between the center and the state.
• Packaged rates (pricing that cover everything and do not charge separately for each product or service):
• They also mention the typical number of days spent in the hospital for a medical operation, as well as the supporting paperwork required.
• They are adaptable, but they cannot charge the recipient once the hospitals have made their decisions.
• A daily limit for medical management has also been established under the scheme.
• For the proper implementation of PM-JAY in collaboration with state governments, the National Health Authority (NHA) was established as an autonomous institution under the Society Registration Act, 1860.
• The State Health Agency (SHA) is the state government’s apex body in charge of implementing AB PM-JAY in the state.

5 – PLACES IN NEWS – WEST BANK

• What is the location of the West Bank:
• It is a landlocked territory in the Mediterranean coast of Western Asia, surrounded on the east by Jordan and on the south, west, and north by the Green Line separating it from Israel. A large portion of the western Dead Sea shore is located in the West Bank.
• What is the associated dispute in this case:
• Jordan took control of the West Bank after the Arab-Israeli War of 1948.
• Israel grabbed it back after the Six Day War of 1967, and has occupied it ever since. During the conflict, the country beat Egypt’s, Syria’s, and Jordan’s combined troops.
• Over the last 20-25 years, it has created 130 legal settlements in the West Bank, as well as a similar number of smaller, informal settlements.
• Over 4 lakh Israeli settlers live here, along with some 26 lakh Palestinians, many of whom are religious Zionists who claim a Biblical birthright to the land.
• Because of the significant number of Palestinians who live there and desire to see it become part of their future state, the territory remains a source of tension.
• When Israel took control of the land in 1967, it allowed Jews to settle there, but Palestinians regard the West Bank as illegally occupied Palestinian territory.
